Survey on outpatients with Ophthalmic diseases and it¢¥s drugs in St. Mary¢¥s Hospital

Abstract

|
We analyzed the data of 23,817 medication orders of outpatients with ophthalmic diseases from September, 1989 to August, 1990 in St. Mary¢¥s Hospital. The results were as follows : £±. The most common type of opthalmic diseases was cataract which accounted for 26.7£¥ of total ophthalmic outpatieuts, the next was retinal disease and glaucoma. £². Prevalence of ophthalmic diseases were trended upward according to getting old. The frequency of female¢¥s cataract was higher than male¢¥s but inversely in glaucoma, and there was little differences in retinal diseases. £³. 42.9£¥ of cataract patients and 66.8£¥ of glaucoma patients were used topical drugs. The most frequent prescribed eye drops were Catalin in cataract and benfunolol in glaucoma.
